They thought they could destroy the Church of Egypt by murdering her founder and inspiration, but St Mark's blood only watered the words he had sown in the hearts of the 1st century Coptic Christian community. They thought they could undermine the Feast of the Resurrection by disrupting the festal service and seizing the celebrant, but they only promoted the Feast of Feasts in granting St Mark a royal path to the promise of the Resurrection.
